It’s Friday!! Ok, in all honesty, I’m not really as excited about Friday this week as I usually am. It’s been a long week, with it being the first week back at work from vacation. But I’m happy the weekend is here and excited about getting some work done on my day off. Did you have an awesome week? Any exciting plans for the weekend? Anyone with a 3 day weekend?

Either way, I have some great reads for you for your weekend! I found so many great articles this week and I’m so happy to be sharing them with you! Some of these, especially the fitness-related ones, really hit home and got me thinking. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Home and Decor

My 10 Favorite Small Kitchen Appliances from Gimme Some Oven – LOVE this list! I can’t wait until I can get some upgrades of what I currently have and this list might be where I start.

Family and Life

5 Ways to Invest in Yourself from Uncustomary – These 5 things are ones that took me years to learn and actually do! So many things held me back from doing these, but when I finally got past those, life improved SO MUCH! Great read!

Art and DIY

DIY Campaign Dresser from A Beautiful Mess – This reminds me a lot of the DIY dresser I did for our walk in closet (which will be in a post soon-ish!) I love how this turned out! So pretty!

Try This: Abstract Modern Art from A Beautiful Mess – This is actually a project I’m hoping to do soon! I’ve been working more lately on figuring out artwork and other wall decor. I think a few of these in series could look great in our empty hallway…or maybe one or two in the living room. I haven’t figured it out yet, but I will definitely be doing something like this soon! Fun and simple DIY art project, for sure!

Random Thrift Store Frames Turned Cohesive Gallery Wall from Re-fabbed – As you saw in this post and this one, I love spray paint! But for some reason, it didn’t cross my mind to use this to make a gallery wall! I will definitely be using this idea in a later project!

DIY Wood + Rubber Band Menus from Almost Makes Perfect – These are too cute! And really make me wish I had dinner parties!

Dresser to Media Center from Re-fabbed – I am going to be on the lookout for a dresser to do this to! I really don’t like our current media center (it’s HUGE!) and while it was a deal, it doesn’t fit at all with what I want for our living room. Also, I really need to try chalk paint. Have you tried it? How did it work for you?

Health and Fitness

Why Meditation is the Best Gift You Can Give Yourself from Fantastic Food – If you have been a reader of my blog for a while now, you know I have tried (and failed) repeatedly to add meditation into my daily schedule. This article just shows why I keep trying! Mediation is amazing for so many reasons. One day I will succeed at making this a more regular habit! Also, I really need to try Headspace. I keep hearing it mentioned. Have you tried it?

Why Do You Exercise? from Living Well Kitchen – A great read! I spent years trying to exercise solely to lose weight. I hated my body and sometimes myself and I could never seem to succeed at working out or whatever diet I tried. It wasn’t until exercise started to mean other things to me and I found other motivators that I started to love exercise. I still struggle with motivation sometimes, but I know that I do love to exercise even when I’m struggling. If you are having a hard time finding your “why” that doesn’t have to do with just weight loss, definitely read this post.

Warning: Obstacles May Arise from Run, Sweat, Eat, Repeat – Wow…This post hit home in so many ways. The fear of backsliding into who you were at a heavier weight, the body dismorphia that can come with losing a lot of weight and so much more. A great read and a personal look into some of the “side effects” of weight loss.

How a Book on Habits Helped Me Find a Workout Program That I Love from The Small Things Blog – Love this! This really is a great example of how being true to yourself and what types of things you enjoy can really make all the difference! It can be easy to get sucked into what type of exercise you “need” to be doing and try to force it, instead of finding something that fits and you love!

30x30x30 Weight Loss Challenge from Venus Trapped in Mars – If you are looking for a challenge and a group of people to do it with, this sounds like a great opportunity! Plus a great post about being honest with yourself and finding your happy weight.

Blogging and Business

What Do I Have to Say and Other Blog Identity Dilemmas from Oddly Lovely – I really connected with this post. I think blog identity is something that we all struggle with as a blogger at one point or another and it is great to see someone talking about it openly and in a positive way.

My Regrets in 6 Years of Blogging from Makeup Savvy – These are things I struggle with too (except the PR samples) and it’s oddly comforting to know that I’m not the only one who has felt the need to apologize for missing a post. Great read!

And to finish things out, my favorite picture of the week! I’m finally back in my studio making new pieces to fuse!

Glass fusion art

That’s it for this week! Have an awesome weekend, especially for those of you that get a three day weekend!
